    Lights, Camera, Action!

We’ve just wrapped production on an amazing broadcast television commercial to promote a pain relief research study that will air nationwide over the summer.

Our three location shoot was set amongst iconic New York City landmarks, including Central Park. Our scene stealer was an actual dancer from the famed Bolshoi Ballet, cast to portray an ankle injury endured during rehearsal. This commercial was written, directed and produced in High Definition for a mere fraction of what it’s worth. We continue to build upon our tradition of providing Madison Avenue quality at Main Street prices.

Effective Brand Building Isn’t Always Fuel Efficient

Click HERE to see the video of our plane landing.

Brand building is a lot of fun. It’s extremely easy when you love the brand and price is not an object.

We’re pretty proud of this little feat we pulled off, branding our own 737 to circulate around the internet. Oh, did you think we’d actually spend the money to stroke our egos? Not a chance. This is hollywood magic turned into SEO content gold.

Cost of this flight? Only $5. You can’t rent a smart carte at the airport for that much!

Developing creative and inexpensive tactics to promote our website and social media following is something we’ve really taken a liking to. We’ve even dusted off the ol’ Twitter account, @PatientAdvGuru which we’d neglected for years, just to push this content out. Too many business seem to forward useless and boring articles to their followers and we won’t be one of them – especially now that we’ve discovered a treasure trove of fun and exciting doo-dads like our branded jet to create a smile, at least for us!
We love the idea of spending very little money to gain attention, and so do our clients!

8 Reasons Why You Should Use a Media Buyer

If the responsibility of creating advertisements or deciding where to run them has found its way to your desk, or an employee that you’d prefer be handling other tasks, take heed. This article defines the considerable advantages of retaining a skilled media buyer to help you find the patients you need. While point #1 is reason enough, there are at least 7 others worth understanding below.

    1. It Costs Nothing Extra

When you use an accredited media buyer to negotiate and purchase your advertising, the media buyer is paid a commission from the media. (Just like travel agents made money before the advent of the internet was invented by Al Gore) For example, let’s say you want to buy an advertisement that costs $1,000. If you work directly with the station sales rep, that spot costs $1,000. Actually, it will already cost you more than $1,000 because a media buyer pays a lower rate… However, for this example, let’s imagine you and the media buyer pay the exact gross price. The media commissions the media buyer with a standardized 15%). This discount is not available to the direct advertiser; only an accredited media-buying service is eligible to receive it.

    2. Negotiation “Clout”

Media buying services possess purchasing power that you simply cannot have on your own – in both local and national markets. Professional media buyers place advertising for several clients, giving them a annual expenditure that is much larger than a single company will ever bring to the table. As you might guess, this level of spending gives them some real advantages when negotiating pricing and placement advantages.
In this business, working through a ‘middleman’ actually saves you money, and time as they do all the work, and are paid by the media – not you.

    3. ROI Tracking and Waste Management

Sometimes, even the most effectively written and produced advertisement, placed correctly, and at the lowest possible costs may not generate an acceptable response on some stations and/or newspapers from time to time. The most effective solution to this challenge is having systems in place to precisely gauge response tactic-by-tactic on the most ‘granular’ basis. Good media buyers know how to hold the media accountable for results.

    4. Preferential Cancellation Rights

The standard cancellation policy enforced by the media is two-full weeks notice. What does that mean to you? It means that tracking the response properly (as outlined in point #3) would be a mere exercise, if one did not have the right to cancel expeditiously. Working with the right media buyer will enable you to take advantage of preferentially negotiated cancellation rights…sometimes minimized to only 48 hours. For example, a media buyer may place a media buy to run Monday through Wednesday and have the right to cancel in time for the following Monday without any penalty. Having the protection of a media buyer in tandem with the call tracking tools they might offer – and their ability to act upon the data can be the secret to your success.

    5. No More Sales Hassles

Inevitably, media sales reps from competing stations, newspapers etc. will come out of the woodwork trying to earn marketshare of your campaign. It’s enough to take up your day responding to all these  solicitations. Your media buyer becomes the point of contact for all media salespeople. A good media buyer that is representing your best interests will take these calls, filter the good opportunities from bad – and bring them to you attention.

    6. Accounts Payable Support

As if managing your current customers advertising to acquire new ones weren’t challenging enough…try making sense of all the media affidavits/invoices/proof of performance that follow 30 days later. Media accounting is confusing and require your full attention, as it’s critical that every advertisement is properly accounted for It’s safe to say that 25% of all media invoices have a discrepancy worthy of a monetary credit due you…but it can take up your day trying to find it and claim it. Good media buyers have good accounting folks behind them whose job it is to use a fine-tooth comb to ensure what was promised was in fact delivered. Accounting is just another reason why retaining that media buying firm (that didn’t cost you anything in the first place) is a smart decision.

    7. Focus on Your Business

If you take away all of the accounting hassles, calls from sales reps, research into shows and networks, and all of the additional effort that goes into good media buying, then you can save lots of time. Your media buyer serves as your single point of contact and enables you run other aspects of your business.

    8. Some Media Buyers Also Handle Creative Needs

Media Buyers are on the line for your success – and know that nothing can negatively affect a great media buy more than a bad message. Some astute media buyers are highly creative marketers that understand what your messaging should be in order to be successful on the tactics they are buying for you. Evan Brett is the Founder of Advertising Guru Inc, a media buying company with over 20 years experience planning, negotiating and managing media from coast to coast.
